Today is a very special day, being 11-11-11!
But even more importantly, we are very pleased to announce the opening of the Margit Brandt flagship store.
Today at 13:00 in Copenhagen, the doors will open to greet honored guests, VIPS and press.

Margit Brandt had an unusual and fantastic life – in many ways! Together with her husband, Erik Brandt, they experienced more than others even dream of.

“It was now in the mid 1970s and we were or less consciously slipping into an environment full og international celebrities. We met them on our many journeys to New York, but also on olidays to Barbados and St Tropez. I had first visited the small French holiday town with Per Toft, my childhood friend, in the middle of the 60s, where we met Roger Vadim, BelMondo and Jean-Claude Brialy at the nightclub Chez Guillanne. In the evening we had been lying on the beach and suddenly Brigitte Bardot had come along and we had a great time jumping over a smalle fire on the beach.” Quotation from the book “Being Brandt – the story of Erik and Margit Brandt”  

The couple understood the importance of marketing, and were closely involved with the public relations of their brands.  They often featured themselves as models in their advertising campaigns, their clothing and personalities became inextricably woven together. They created a commercially successful identity: Who did not want to feel a little bit like Margit and Erik Brandt?

Margit Brandt’s style was quite simple. She moved with the spirit of the times, through the mini-skirt, midi and maxi, always with distinctive details that constantly changed.

It seemed only natural that Margit and Erik began orienting themselves overseas. By 1970, through a series of licensing agreements, they had launched branches of their boutiques through to an international market: Hong Kong, Japan, Switzerland and especially across the United States.

Looking back, it often seemed like a reality tv series: When Erik and Margit went to a reception, or were seen riding in a limousine or let themselves be photographed in a mansion on the Beach Road. Complete with the bling, all the glamour and the jet set holidays, the Danes had their very own celebrity royalty.

 Danish Fashion ikon Margit Brandt passed away Monday 24th of October.

Margit Brandt has suffered from a serious lung disease for a long time.

We send our best to her family in these difficult times.
